ChemBioPower is a Canadian company that focuses on creating sustainable,  plant-based chemical products to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels. Using renewable feedstocks, like sugars from plants, ChemBioPower produces  valuable chemicals such as formic acid, which has many applications in industry, from fuel cells to de-icing. 

ChemBioPower's innovations support cleaner energy solutions and aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to a more sustainable future.


Dr. Antonio Anselmo | CEO

Dr. Anselmo is the scientific leader of ChemBioPower, developing both the catalyst systems and the process engineering. Dr. Anselmo is a recognized world-class expert in the fields of advanced particle accelerators, plasma physics, system engineering and financial engineering. He is an expert on the design and control of complex systems. Dr. Anselmo worked for 12 years at J.P. Morgan Chase in the Financial Engineering and Electronic Commerce groups in the Investment Bank. Prior to this, he was a Scientist at Varian Associates for 4 years designing accelerator and radar systems. He has written numerous scientific papers on nuclear fuel chain optimization, particle accelerators and complex systems. He holds a B.Sc., M. Eng. and Ph.D. from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the Amos Tuck School at Dartmouth College. He was a McMullen Honorary Scholar and a Teagle Graduate Fellow at Cornell and an Edward Tuck Scholar and Adams Entrepreneurial Award Winner at Dartmouth.


Stanton Hooper | Principle

Stanton Hooper (Executive Director) has 40 years of construction and development experience in Canada and United States on numerous major projects. Mr. Hooper was the Chairman of the Board of Churchill Corp. and is President of Stanton Developments, Ltd. He attended the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program and the University of California Berkeley Hazardous Materials Program. He is a member of the Alberta Society of Engineering Technologists.


Joshua Vera | Chief Sales Officer

Joshua brings nearly 20 years of customer service and sales experience, as well as a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta. His most recent experience comes as CEO and Founder of Elevate Cannabis, an independently owned and operated brand of retail cannabis stores in the Edmonton area. In 2019, Joshua was nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year at the Canadian Cannabis Awards and his first brick and mortar retail store which opened in 2018, for Top Canadian Cannabis Retail Store, 2019. Joshua has also been a regular contributor and Member of the Editorial Committee for Cannabis Retail Magazine since 2019, a written publication that is circulated across North America 6 times a year and viewed internationally online. In 2023, Joshua was nominated for the MacEwan University Emerging Leader Award which recognizes alumni who have demonstrated an early ability and willingness to make impactful contributions to their professions and community. Most recently he has volunteered his time, expertise, and commitment to his local community as a Board Member for the North Edge Business Association in Downtown Edmonton. Joshua truly is a Trailblazer, innovator, critical thinker, and entrepreneur at heart, having navigated an entirely new industry from scratch with no certainty, baseline, or benchmarks to learn or draw experiences from. 


Marko Hluchowecky | Chemist/General Engineering Technician

Marko is a dedicated scientist with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Earth Sciences from MacEwan University. He has embarked on a professional journey with ChemBioPower, specializing in catalyst development and renewable formic acid production. His expertise extends to constructing catalysts, including Wells-Dawsons, Preyssler heteropolyanions, and polyoxometalates containing molybdenum, vanadium, or tungsten. He has worked closely with his team on research and development, focusing on making processes more efficient and sustainable. Marko's educational background has equipped him with proficiency in analytical techniques, such as gas chromatography-mass spectrometry and LC-MS based methods. During his summers as a student, he gained practical experience working at Royal Mayfair and Blackhawk golf clubs. As an irrigation technician, Marko has implemented computerized irrigation data systems, including remote monitoring and control systems. He has also successfully troubleshot and repaired irrigation systems and helped contribute to the construction of new bunkers and greens. Marko is a versatile scientist capable of tackling complex challenges in both laboratory and field settings.
